Hello from Mike Empty Hello from Mike

Post by mykill 11th September 2014, 15:35

Hi guys,

Mike here from PMB in South Africa... I've been out of the online racing scene for a few months and think it's time I get online again!
I've done all my online racing with GTR2 and GTL. I've been a member on another SA site, and had a blast with many GTR2 races.. With Assetto Corsa taking over, and my PC not quite up to spec yet, I gave GSCE a go about a month ago.. I love it, and ended up buying the GSC and Formula Truck bundle.. Haven't raced online yet.. I haven't even tried out all the tracks. I'm racing the AI at 105%, and hope to do OK against some fellow racers.. I know I'm not up to speed but think I'll do OK in a race, and will get quicker. For now I'm keen on the V8 series I see you have here.

I've raced with both Kevin and Christie... It'll be great to get on track with you guys again Smile And I recognize a few other names as well.

I hope to join tonight for at least one race.. If I can get things sorted in time!

Hi all,

My intentions when signing up here were to join in for many races, but I've been struggling with my G27 wheel Sad It's OK for some tracks and cars, but the overall experience in this game has been very disappointing. I'm now convinced my wheel is faulty and it's going back to the suppliers today.

When I get it back I'll either join in for more events, or ask fellow G27 users on this site for assistance. Here's hoping they confirm it faulty and either fix or replace it.

Welcome Mike... if you are racing the AI at 105%, then I don't think it's your wheel at all. Very Happy
Those buggers are mean enough at 95% already lol!

Hi Mike, we wondered what happened to you !!!
I have a G27 and it is a pleasure to drive with it. However, you need to set it up properly. I use the realfeel plugin. It is rather stiff on some mods and soft on others. You therefore need to set it up for each mod. I have it working to my liking for each one you drive. I prefer a stronger stiffer feel for V8's and a softer not so stiff for F1.
You give very little information as to what is actually 'wrong' with the wheel.
You can also read here for more FFB settings if that is what is wrong https://shadowracingrsa.forumotion.com/t50-force-feedback
Let us know.

Thanks for the replies guys.. and for your helpful information Christo.

The main problem with my wheel is the rattles and clunks it makes! It drives me nuts. It's just too loud and distracting. I also think that the force is a bit weak... Not so much the effects like curbs and big bumps, but when you turn into a bend, the wheel is lifeless.. This may be normal, but I hear stories of users fighting their wheel or getting tired after extended use.. My wheel is so weak there’s no chance of that.. This I accepted as normal when I got the wheel.

GTR2 and GTL are OK.. These are the games I was playing when I got the wheel.
I’ve now moved onto GSC and Assetto Corsa, and maybe I could live with the weak forces, but the rattling and clunking (especially in GSC) is beyond acceptable.. I have tried all possible configuration settings and browsed many forums for good settings. Lowering the FFB reduces the rattles, but this takes just about all the FFB effects away. Even with the rattles, the overall ‘feel’ for the car is very weak. I’ve been battling with these issues for months now, and I really feel it is not a configuration, setup or profiler setting I need to tweak. If the suppliers say the wheel is fine I’ll be very surprised.
Some tracks and cars are OK... Which is what got me into the game, but I found I spend more time tweaking the FFB than actually playing. Very frustrating!

If they say there is nothing wrong with it, well I don’t know.. I’ll definitely follow your advice and settings you recommend, but without sounding negative, I’m sure I’ll have tried these settings already.. I’ve tried everything.
I’ll keep you guys posted and let you know once I have it back.. For now I may get my old Logitech Momo dusted off.

Hi Mike,  Have you tried disabling the Realfeal?

Hi Gert,
Thanks for the suggestion.. Yep, I tried disabling RealFeel.. It lessened the noises a bit, but the overall feedback was terrible.. Maybe tweaking the controller.ini file will help. This is something I have not tried. I'll get stuck into sorting it out when I get it back.
