Post by Xeqtr 25th August 2014, 11:03

Assetto corsa still has a long way to go in my opinion. Cars handle like they sitting on ice... understeer or oversteer unrealistically and they feel so disconnected from the road. Car contact on track is retarded, the cars bounce off each other like bouncing balls... hmm what else. Oh the interface you can tell is still alpha.

After all the game is still not its release version and I suspect it will be a great game once its released in full with all the rubbish ironed out.

Assetto Corsa Empty Re: Assetto Corsa

Post by SteveS 25th December 2014, 16:22

I bought this on Steam for myself last night.

Absolutely gorgeous graphics and sounds, and the tracks are beautiful.

I am struggling to match my steering rate to the in-car steering wheel. I have a G25 set in Logitec software to 540 degrees, but turning rate seems double in AC no matter what I set in settings. This makes the steering VERY sensitive and tricky to correct.

p.s. I have tried a handful of cars including the Mclaren GT3, Mercedes SLS GT3, Ferrari la Ferrari and Pagani Hyuara on ingame Pro settings (small amout of TC and ABS). The Pagani is terrible to drive and feels like brakes are made from cardboard, whereas the Mercedes is fantastic. The Ferrari sounds amazing.

I also got this game for a long time but did not yet spend a lot of time with it. Cars also drive terrible for me with a lot of body role. Tracks and graphics are nice. Only once drive a race in online mode.
Denis is the correct person to really comment on it as it is at the moment. I think it will be nice in about 2 years time. I believe a lot of promised stuff for Release 1.0 was not in the update !!!
Would be interesting to read Denis findings.........

Steve - leave your wheel on 900 , also run the steering setup wizard

BTW - we have a "Team Practise" server if any one wants to have a few AC races - to see if the netcode etc has improved

I was At Steve's house on Saturday to check out Assetto Corsa

Gam ereally looks very good.

I drove a few cars on Spa.
Drove the La Ferrari. OMW Handles like a dogs breakfast.
Then drove the Merc SLS GT car. Very easy to drive compared to the Ferrari.
Then drove the Maclaren, also easy to drive.

Enjoyed it. If the game is on special again, I will get it. No rush on that one.

Assetto sure looks gorgeous, just wish they would get it running like GSCE...then I would be hooked on it again!

Lets see what the v1.1 update does, if they can fix some issues that would be great. Still a fun drive though and worth having for driving fans, but not good for league racing yet!

The new content looks great, cant wait to try some of the new cars out!

Spa in AC is stunning Gert, in my opinion the best Spa ever created for pc. AC has bugs just like Pcars but still a fun game.

Well worth it on special...and if you like Nurbs, its the most accurate Nurbs ever created for a sim!

Post by Denis Mitchell 21st May 2015, 09:52

Hahaha, i did leave Assetto for GSCE, but Assetto is still very good in what it gets right, it does have online issues which were my big issue and my other big issue was steering input lag, which i just a day or so ago found what i think is a .ini file fix for that.

With some guys using Thurstmaster and some Logitech here we seem to get issues on some games for some and not others. Input lag seemed a issue on AC for Logitech not Thrustmaster guys. I just changed the refresh rate, dropped it lower and it felt a lot better! If your arm is twisted enough and bite, be aware the Momo is not great i Assetto, its what i started it with. It works but a not as nice experience. Ill share that .ini file tip too, just need to double check it lol.

Eish I did play with it on a G25, not mine. but it will be for fun so will not mind small issue. But input lag will be a bit of a problem. but if you know how to fix it already then I am not gonna worry about that then.

For those with Logitech wheels feeling the input lag, try open the assetto_corsa.ini file, its in the system/cfg folder within Assetto.

Second line of code has the force feedback refresh rate set at 333...this is the issue. For example GSCE uses 90. It seems Logitech needs lower rates and Thrustmaster can handle higher one from my experiences. I set mine to 90 to test it since GSCE uses that and feels excellent and it felt much better but have read 120 is ideal for most.

Default code =
[FORCE_FEEDBACK]
MAX_FF_RATE_HZ=333

My code set to =
[FORCE_FEEDBACK]
MAX_FF_RATE_HZ=90 ;333

Momo wheel just has the rotation limitation and Assetto like more rotation. There are guys happy to use a Momo, but when i tried it i struggled, then i got a DFGT and my issues vanished.

Cool tip. I haven't noticed input lag but then it might be an age thing. I am also a very gentle smooth driver.

Chris showed me where to calibrate my wheel - I had assumed the default G25 profile was right. What a difference calibrating made, especially to the pedals.

Gert, forget whatever you remember of AC you need to try it again now that the wheel is calibrated.

This is the best driving sensation I have ever experienced in a racing sim. I am especially fond of the Z4 GT3, La Ferarri and the Lotus 98T. And the tracks are absolutely superb.
I also think it has the best visuals of any of my sims (incl PCars), there is just something about the way things are rendered and lit that looks more real than computer graphics.

Have I twisted your arm enough yet? You know you want it and you know the price is good...
